Dr. Xuan (Shane) Yao founded this practice to offer personalized, individualized care that draws on traditional Chinese medicine alongside a modern understanding of anatomy and clinical science.
Education
Dr. Yao holds a Ph.D. in Integrative Medicine from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, one of China's leading institutions for the study of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.
Clinical Experience
Before relocating to the United States, Dr. Yao spent 18 years practicing at two teaching hospitals in Beijing, providing acupuncture and herbal care across a wide range of conditions. Since moving to Texas, he has practiced in private acupuncture clinics, community acupuncture settings, and alongside chiropractic providers — building a practical understanding of how American patients experience and respond to acupuncture care.
Certification
Dr. Yao is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, nationally certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine by the NCCAOM (now the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, NCBAHM), and holds a Clean Needle Technique certificate from the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. He is a Texas Licensed Acupuncturist, License No. AC02072.
Academic Experience
Dr. Yao served as a faculty lecturer at Capital Medical University and has been invited to teach acupuncture practitioners internationally.

Over his career, Dr. Yao has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and contributed to over 10 books and monographs on acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, and has served as a peer reviewer for academic journals and research institutions in China.
